An impressive 97mm Carcharodontosaurus saharicus dinosaur tooth, known as the North African Tyrannosaurus rex for its formidable size. A noteworthy discovery from the Northern African landscape, where this exotic theropod dinosaur roamed the Late Cretaceous landscapes. Recognised for its immense size and fearsome predatory nature, this apex predator inhabited the Continental Intercalaire of Northern Africa. With a robust build, serrated teeth, and a commanding presence, Carcharodontosaurus saharicus held a significant role in the Late Cretaceous ecosystems, showcasing the diversity of large theropods during that era.
CONDITION
This large and complete Carcharodontosaurus tooth underwent conservation. Life dentin wear is observed at the tip, while the preserved enamel/dentin-surface patination showcases lovely dark toffee mahogany tones throughout its length. Evident serrations include some areas with restoration. Despite visible fossil bed fractures, consolidation has created a stout, in-hand feel for this significant-sized tooth, featuring fillers. The tonal palette is influenced by minerals and aeons of deposition in the Cretaceous fossil bed layer.
